Guwahati, Dec. 16: Andhra Pradesh today took a 45-run first innings lead with three wickets intact on the second day of their Cooch Behar Trophy plate group B match against hosts Assam at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon.
Resuming their first innings at the overnight 42 for no loss, the visitors today reached 237 for seven in 111 overs in reply to Assam’s first-innings total of 192.
The overnight opening tandem of Ch. Kranthikumar (41, 4x4) and K. Ashwin Hebbar (37, 6x4) gave a solid start to the innings, sharing 71 runs before skipper Wasiqur Rahman stumped the latter off left-arm spinner Roshan Alam to slow down the run flow for some time. D. Naren Reddy (43, 7x4, 1x6) was the topscorer for Andhra Pradesh, while N. Vineel Kumar, who hauled five wickets yesterday, was batting on 32 (5x4) at draw of stumps for the day. R. Surajpreetam (20, 2x4) and M.S. Girinath (15) were the other notable scorers. Roshan Alam was the pick of the Assam bowlers, having scalped three for 51.
IIT meet: The 49th Inter-IIT Sports Meet – the annual sports event among all the IITs of the country – was inaugurated by Olympian MC Mary Kom at the athletics ground of IIT, Guwahati today.
