Guwahati, Dec. 15: Vibhan V. Das and Naziya Ahmed annexed the under-14 boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the 1st Anup Lahoty Open Tennis Championship, organised by India Club at its courts here.
In the finals today, Vibhan came back from a set behind to beat Partha P. Bora 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Naziya eased past Breshna Khan 6-1, 6-1.
In the men’s doubles, the duo of Priyanuz Lahkar and Amlan Jyoti Baruah got the better of H.T. Zathangliana and Lalawmsanga 6-0, 6-3 for the title, while Marisha Dutta and Anangsha Alomyan won the women’s doubles title beating Shivani Dutta and Sujata Sharma 6-2, 6-1.
Dilip Mohanty and Santana Baruah won the mixed doubles crown defeating Dipjyoti Baruah and Sunumoni Barkataki 7-1 in a single-setter final clash.
Dilip Mohanty also won the veteran (above-35) doubles title partnering Rajeev Kumar Bora to beat Ashish Agarwal and Rajnish Goswami 8-3.
Th. Tuleswar and N. Dilip Singh lifted the veteran (above-45) title getting the better of Diganta Thakur and Anirban Das 7-3 while in veteran (above-55) doubles, Amlandeep Das and Dipak Das defeated Bimal Bharali and Shankar Lahkar 7-3 for the title.
The prizes were given away by Anup Lahoty’s mother Tara Lahoty, among others.
Anchit Gogoi was adjudged Most Promising Player of the tournament. Two racquets were given to the boys and girls under-14 winners.
