Industry meets CM

A Confederation of India Industry (CII) delegation led by its Jharkhand chairman S.K. Behera and comprising Jusco managing director Ashish Mathur, among others, met chief minister Hemant Soren at Project Building in Ranchi on December 9. The CII demanded revised VAT rates, PPP construction of Jamshedpur’s eastern corridor, formulation of a purchase policy and speedy vehicle registration. A Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) team, led by president Vikas Kumar Singh, which met Hemant on the same day at the same venue, stressed on appointing the Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission chairperson at the earliest. The FJCCI representatives also had purchase and single-window policies on their wish list

Mecon MoU

Leading public sector engineering consultants and contractors Mecon Limited, headquartered in Ranchi, signed an MoU with SBI Capital Markets (SBICAPS), India’s leading investment bank and project advisor, in Mumbai on December 9. Mecon chairman-cum-managing director A.K. Tyagi and SBICAPS managing director and CEO V.G. Kannan signed the agreement that aligns their core competencies across strategic business areas. “Mecon and SBICAPS will utilise each other’s strength and domain knowledge while retaining individual identities,” said Mecon chief of communications Rana S. Chakraborty

Bank debut

Bank of India, with over 4,460 branches nationwide, opened a branch at Azadnagar in Mango, Jamshedpur, on December 6. Inaugurating it, Jamshedpur MP Ajoy Kumar said: “I hope the bank extends full cooperation to the masses by giving them proper information and selfless service.” Zonal bank manager D.P. Mishra promised best possible customer service

Cheques with a special touch

Amway Opportunity Foundation, CSR arm of Amway India, recently presented cheques to two special schools in the state. The foundation gave Rs 1.5 lakh to School of Hope, Northern Town in Jamshedpur, and Rs 2.3 lakh to Kshitij Deaf and Dumb School in Niwaranpur, Ranchi
