The state government has given its nod to circus at Park Circus Maidan after a gap of two seasons.
Metro had reported last Wednesday that the Calcutta Municipal Corporation (CMC) has sought the government’s approval to hold circus at the Park Circus Maidan.
“We now have the permission. We have selected a company through tender and were awaiting the state government’s nod,” said Debasish Kumar, mayoral council member (parks and gardens).
Ajanta Circus had won the bid and paid the CMC Rs 27 lakh, the highest the civic body has received from any circus company. The circus will open on December 25 and continue for 45 days.
