Calcutta/Benoni: The Indian team was left frustrated yet again when their two-day tour match against South African Invitational XI at Willowmoore Park, Benoni was called off due to a wet outfield.
With the Indian batsmen failing to put up a decent performance in the first two ODIs and the elements playing spoilsport in the last match, the Indian batsmen could have earned some crucial match practice ahead of the two-Test series.
However, with Benoni having received massive rainfall in the past three weeks, even a sunny day was not enough to dry out a wet outfield. And after the groundstaff indicated they would not be able to get the ground ready in time, the match officials decided to abandon the tie.
India, though, ended up practising by themselves, setting up nets around the main wicket and going through their drills.
The team management had a discussion with match officials, who gave them a green light to practice on the central pitch, the one slated to be used for this game.
