Kiran cases

Dec. 13: Sujay Ghatak, the Siliguri block Congress president and a councillor of the municipal corporation, today filed a petition in Calcutta High Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to former Malda district magistrate G. Kiran Kumar by the Siliguri chief judicial magistrate.

Kiran Kumar had been arrested in connection with alleged funds misuse in the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority.

In the Siliguri additional district and sessions first court, another case was filed against Kiran Kumar’s bail by Gobindalal Das, a Siliguri resident. The case would be heard on January 9.

The case, filed on December 7, was supposed to be heard today. “However, as the case came up, the court observed that no notice had been served on Kiran Kumar. The court ordered that a notice be served on him and the case would be heard on January 9,” said Atri Sharma, the lawyer representing Kiran Kumar.
