Ranchi, Dec. 12: State DGP Rajeev Kumar this morning rushed to Latehar to review ongoing anti-Naxalite operations, even as security personnel defused 12 more IEDs along NH-75 in Manika.
Apparently planted to blow up securitymen camping in the area, this is the third time rebels targeted NH-75, considered the lifeline of Palamau commissionary, since Monday.
“We are not going to leave them at any cost. They will have to either surrender or face the music. Our boys are fully prepared to face the eventualities,” Kumar told The Telegraph.
The DGP was forced to rush to the district after a series of land mine blasts and recoveries of explosives along the NH-75 this week.
Yesterday, Maoists triggered a blast on NH-75 in Manika, moments after a police team passed the spot. In a similarly attempt on Monday, Naxalites targeted another team, including DSP Alok Baraik and Manika OC Mithilesh Kumar.
Though security personnel have been lucky enough to have survived the attacks, Naxalites, through the explosions, have announced their return to the area.
Notably, DGP Kumar had led anti-Naxalite operations in the jungles of Latehar in the recent past. The security forces claimed to have freed the district from the clutches of the rebels.
“Considering the topography of the area, recurrence of such incidents is natural,” the DGP said.
