Gogoi reviews govt schemes

Guwahati, Dec. 11: Chief minister Tarun Gogoi reviewed the implementation of government schemes by different departments at a meeting held in Dispur today.

The respective heads of all the departments attended the meeting held at the secretariat conference hall where implementation of schemes and programmes under Plan head were reviewed.

Gogoi aksed his officials to ensure implementation of schemes and programmes within the stipulated timeframe. “No lame excuses will be heard for non implementation of any scheme within the stipulated timeframe. Officers will be held responsible for failing to execute schemes on time,” the chief minister said.

Any problem faced by the departments in executing any scheme should be sorted out at the chief secretary level, Ggogi said.

The chief minister also asked his adviser P.P. Varma to hold periodic meetings with the heads of departments to ensure hassle-free implementation of the Chief Minister’s Special Programmes and flagship schemes of the Union government.

The departments that were reviewed included PWD (roads), PWD (buildings and highways), panchayat and rural development, social welfare, public health engineering department, urban development, village and small industries, large and medium industries, handloom and textiles, environment and forest, information technology, power, Guwahati development department and welfare of plains tribes and backward classes.

Chief Minister’s Special Package funds allocated and sanctioned to six Tribal Autonomous Councils, Bodoland Territorial Council, 18 development councils were also reviewed.

Minister for planning and development Tanka Bahadur Rai, additional chief secretary V.K. Pipersenia among others were present at the meeting.
