Saradha siege

Calcutta, Dec. 11: The CPM today said cadres would lay siege to Saradha Group properties to demand their seizure and sale to repay duped depositors.

Addressing a news conference at Alimuddin Street, CPM state secretariat member Gautam Deb said: “We have been watching for the past several months that the Mamata Banerjee government has been doing nothing to take over the properties of the Saradha Group. We have raised the demand inside and outside the Assembly. But there hasn’t been any result. So we have decided to instruct our cadres to lay siege to Saradha properties across the state.”

Naren ‘fracture’

The Left Front today alleged that Hooghly’s Chinsurah Imambara Hospital had discharged Forward Bloc leader Naren De, who was assaulted by suspected Trinamul activists, mentioning there were no bone injuries even though the private Calcutta hospital where he is now admitted has said he has a fractured arm.

Minister Partha Chatterjee said there was “no reason” to think the government hospital’s report was wrong.
