Bagan upbeat

Calcutta: Upbeat after thumping United SC, McDowell Mohun Bagan face the Mumbai FC test in an I-League match, at the Kalyani Stadium, on Wednesday.

Christopher Chizoba’s inclusion might well be a super hit one, especially after his brace in the previous game, along with Okolie Odafe’s return to scoring. But Bagan need to be wary of their rivals’ strongest weapon — Yusif Yakubu — who, even at the twilight of his career, has the ability to turn a game on its head.

“As I’ve said, none of the matches in the I-League are easy. And Mumbai FC are a tough nut to crack, too, especially with Yakubu in the side,” coach Karim Bencharifa said on Tuesday.

The visitors are simply brimming with confidence, having beaten East Bengal and Pune FC in their last two matches.

In another game, at the Salt Lake Stadium, Syed Rahim Nabi is set to be part of the starting XI for Mohammedan Sporting, who face table-toppers Bengaluru FC.
