Calcutta: Aditi Ashok was in a pleasant mood after winning her second international title in the individual section. However, she doesn’t want to get carried away with her triumph in the Asia Pacific Junior Amateur Golf Championship, which concluded on Sunday, here at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC).
“Look, it’s always good to win this tournament being a junior. This will surely help in improving my world amateur rankings apart from keeping me in fine shape going into the next two events. “Lifting the trophy after winning may maiden international title (100Plus Malaysian Junior Golf Championship in 2011) was certainly a big moment. But at present, I just want to savour this moment,” the 15-year-old said.
For Thailand’s Suradit Yongcharoenchai, champion in the boys’ individual category, the title is more special since it was his first competition in India. Ever since he was on the lead, Suradit was confident of finishing on top. “I had more than 80 per cent chances of winning. Yes, there was pressure, but I knew I would pull through,” he said.
