New Delhi, Dec. 8: Samajwadi chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has told his MPs not to show “leniency” to the Congress in Parliament, a party source said today.
A decision on the party’s floor strategy will be taken tomorrow morning before the House meets. “But it looks like we will ‘gherao’ the Congress on price rise and other issues,” the source said.
The Samajwadi, which offers outside support to the UPA, said it would not allow the passage of proposed bills, such as the one on women’s reservation, which awaits clearance from the Lok Sabha and needs the support of a two-thirds majority because of a constitutional amendment. A bill on reservation in promotion for Dalits and tribals retrospectively also requires a constitutional amendment.
