Mamata to visit Delhi

Calcutta, Dec. 7: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will be travelling to Delhi on Monday on a three-day visit.

This will be her first trip to the capital since April this year when she ran into an SFI protest on her way to Yojana Bhavan.

Sources close to the chief minister said she was going to Delhi to attend a private event on Tuesday evening.

“In the morning, she will go to Central Hall of Parliament and interact with leaders of other political parties,” a Trinamul MP said.

Party sources said Mamata would be closely monitoring the Assembly poll results from five states, to be declared on Sunday and Monday.

“Her visit to Delhi at this juncture is crucial. The poll results will throw up new equations before the campaign for next year’s general election begins,” the MP said.

“Mamatadi has already begun the process of building bridges with like-minded non-Congress, non-BJP parties.”

After snapping her alliance with the Congress at the Centre in September last year, Mamata has attacked the government on a range of issues, from price rise to the communal violence bill.
