DPS duo ace Tata quiz
- Next round in steel city on Dec. 10

Ranchi, Dec. 7: The team comprising DPS boys Rishav Dey and Srijan Sinha finished first at the Ranchi round of Tata Steel Inter-state School Quiz at CMPDI’s Mayuri auditorium on Saturday.

DPS will be competing with cradles in Bhubaneswar and Jamshedpur at the next round of the quiz, which will be held in the steel city on Tuesday.

In the Ranchi segment, 91 teams from 29 capital cradles fought it out. The event, moderated by renowned quizmaster Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam from Bangalore, saw students rack their brains over questions from diverse topics.

After a preliminary written exam, six teams — DPS-Ranchi, Bridgeford, DAV-Bariatu, St Thomas, Jawahar Vidya Mandir and St Xavier’s School — qualified for the next level comprising five rounds.

The five rounds — Did you know?, Scan them, Games, Code-Decode and Newsmaker—tested the students’ knowledge as well as their promptness in audio-visual questions.

The DPS quizzards were ahead from the very first round. While they managed 30 in the opening round, three of their rivals managed 10 each and the remaining failed to open their accounts. The leading team maintained its dominance to finish with 70 points.

Rishav and Srijan won a trophy, cash prize of Rs 20,000 and other goodies. While DAV-Bariatu emerged runner-up, St Thomas came third. Cash awards for the second and third slots were Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
