Imphal, Dec. 6: Youth Organisation Sporting Club edged past IYA Kakching by 2-1 goals in the 57th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
The Youth Club, playing their first match in the tournament, had a tough task as their opponent IYA Kakching had registered a victory in their opening match.
Youth Organisation Sporting Club got the breakthrough in the 28th minute with Md Aulat making no mistake in firing home a free kick for the lead in the first half.
Playing with concerted effort, IYA Kakching were desperate for the equaliser and their efforts paid off in 46th minute with M. Samananda Singh scoring off a short goalmouth pass from P.R. Sungreim Chothe to level at 1-1.
With four minutes of regulation time left, the Youth Organisation team scored the winner after Lamio outran three IYA Kakching defenders in a quick counter-attack in the 76th minute.
Youth Organisation player S. Akash and IYA Kakching player Y. Rengshem Chothe were cautioned during the match.
In another match, BMSC Tabungkhok registered a solitary goal win against FC Zaleng with Rahul Soubam getting the winning goal in the 27th minute.
Tabungkhok players L. Kanheiya and H. Naobi and FC Zaleng player Kekhohao Vaiphei were booked in the match.
Manipur claimed the Junior Girls National Football Championship defeating Odisha by 3-0 goals at Cuttack.
Dangmei Grace scored two goals while Ratanbala Devi fetched one for the victory. Ratanbala Devi was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
