2 hurt in twin road mishaps

Two persons were seriously injured after being hit by public transport vehicles in separate incidents in Mango and Jugsalai on Thursday.

The injured were identified as Fagu Tiwary (40) and Madan Singh (35) of Bagbera and Dimna Bustee respectively.

Both were rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital’s emergency ward, from where Tiwary was referred to ESI Hospital in Adityapur.

While contract labourer Tiwary suffered three fractures on his left leg, industrial worker Singh, who received head injuries, is battling for his life.

The first mishap occurred around 9am when a passenger van knocked down Singh, walking near the Olidih vegetable market. Unconscious, Singh lay on the road for 30 minutes till a police patrol party took him to MGM.

The van driver managed to flee with his vehicle.

The second accident occurred around 10am when Tiwary, riding a cycle, was hit by a city bus near Dukhu Market in Jugsalai. As he fell, a front wheel of the bus went over his leg.

Both victim and driver were taken to Jugsalai thana. Police admitted Tiwary to hospital. Jugsalai OC Arun Kumar Mishra said: “We have arrested the driver on charges of reckless driving.”
