Prizemoney for tourney doubles

Imphal, Dec. 3: The All Manipur Football Association has got Manipur Development Society as the main sponsor for this year’s 57th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet) 2013 which saw a twofold increase in prize money.

Earlier the prize money meet was Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 for the winner and runner-up respectively.

From this time, winner will be awarded Rs 2 lakh while runner-up will get Rs 1 lakh. The Manipur Development Society has contributed Rs 5 lakh for the meet and got the exclusive rights for advertising within the playground.

Twenty teams will take part in the qualifying rounds starting tomorrow, from which four teams will qualify to the final rounds.

The All Manipur Football Association has invited four outstation teams including Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, Assam Rifles, SSB and Green Valley, Guwahati. ARC Shillong have confirmed participation.

SAI SAG, Utlou and IYA Kakching will play in the opening match tomorrow which will start at 1.30pm.

Body-building: The All-Manipur Body-Building and Fitness Association feted the body-builders who bagged two gold, six silver and three bronze medals in the IFBB World Junior and Master Body-Building Championship in Mongolia and 11th Eastern India Body-Building and fourth Women Fitness Championship in Odisha.

Assistance: The State-Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare is going to extend financial assistance to sportspersons of Assam for participation in international events through their respective national federations during the year 2013-14 in two phases — April to November 2013 and December 2013 to March 2014. All the state sports associations affiliated to the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) have been advised to direct the eligible sportspersons to apply for the financial assistance before December 15. The forms will be available with AOA.
