State health minister and chairman of the governing body of RIMS in Ranchi Rajendra Prasad Singh will decide on the possible extension of the state-run health hub’s director Tulsi Mahto’s tenure.
The decision to bestow Singh with the responsibility was taken during the 35th governing body meeting on Tuesday. Mahto’s three-year term as RIMS director will end on December 22.
According to the constitution of the hospital, the governing body can propose to extend the tenure of a director for another two years, if it is satisfied with the activities undertaken by him/her. However, the proposal can be forwarded only if the director has not attained the age of 60.
According to sources, Mahto is 59 years old.
“We need to ponder over the extension proposal. Since the tenure will end this month, we need to take a quick call on this,” said the health minister after the meeting.
Besides, the director’s extension, which was the main agenda during the meeting, replacement of two transformers, installing two more ATM kiosks on the premises, renting out the new auditorium of RIMS, finalising the salary of the new public relations officer and setting up the bio-statistics department were also discussed.
However, nothing related to patients was raised during the three-hour-long meeting.
