BJP in fix over venue

Ranchi, Dec. 2: The state BJP is unlikely to get Morabadi grounds for party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s public rally in Ranchi on December 29.

The Ranchi district administration today informed BJP leaders that the sprawling grounds had already been booked for that particular day, and asked them to look for any other venue in the capital.

“We did receive a letter from the BJP office. But, I have explained them that the venue has already been booked by Khadi Board for their Saras Mela between December 17 and January 3. They may look for some other venue. The administration will extend all possible help,” said Ranchi deputy commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey.

State BJP president Ravindra Kumar Rai decried it as “a ploy to foil the programme”.

“Wherever Narendra Modi has tried to hold public meetings, especially in the non-BJP states, local administration created problems. We had announced the programme around three months ago, yet the grounds have been allotted to a mela, which could have easily been organised elsewhere,” rued Rai.

He added that the rally would be held in Ranchi on the scheduled date at any cost.
