New Delhi: Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla was a reasonably satisfied man after garnering three points from the Ranji Trophy match against Services at the Palam ground here.
“On a pitch like this, where the bowlers hardly get any assistance, getting six points is always difficult. I am happy that we could get three. In fact, I was apprehensive about taking the lead even after our batsmen posted 431 runs on the board,” he said.
Shukla said his bowlers did a good job.
“Services are the home team and have a good batting line up. It was not easy to get them out for 304. It was possible because of our superb bowling,” he said.
Shukla also backed the middle order batsmen, saying it was not easy to score runs on this track but hinted he was looking for reinforcement in the team. “I would have to talk to the team management and the Cricket Association of Bengal.
“If there is anyone good in the under-19 or under-25 teams, he could be drafted in,” the captain said.
Asked in which of the next three matches Bengal could hope to get three points, Shukla said he was not looking at things from that angle.
“All I am thinking of is playing good cricket. If we can play good cricket consistently for four days, six points will automatically come. For that, we need a total team effort,” he opined.
