A four-member state public accounts committee, which reviewed on Friday various departments under East Singhbhum on how each fared in implementing CAG recommendations, awarded the district a mixed scorecard.
Committee chairman MLA Raghubar Das, along with three other legislators, held a meeting with East Singhbhum district officials at Circuit House on Friday. He said none of the departments bothered to reply to the panel on implementation of CAG recommendations.
Das apart, other MLAs include Banna Gupta, Neelkanth Munda and Laxman Gilua.
The team also examined the revenue and tax earned by mining, revenue, sales tax, transport, forest and excise departments.
“We are satisfied with the accounts reports of all the departments, except sales tax and transport. We will hold a meeting with these two departments on Saturday,” said Das, also Jamshedpur East MLA and BJP veteran.
Das went on to add there were 19 recommendations listed by CAG for different government departments.
“We sent the list to chief secretary R.S. Sharma on November 23 to ensure recommendations are implemented. He has verbally assured us of compliance,” he added.
After Saturday’s meeting, the team will visit Chaibasa in West Singhbhum. “We will look into accounts and tax issues of mining department in Chaibasa. So far, the panel has visited Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Ramgarh and Bokaro. In the second phase, we will check the irregularities in works of MGNREGS, road construction, among others,” Das added.
