New Delhi: Arindam Das is not complacent after his unbeaten 139 against Services in the first day of the Ranji Trophy Group B match. He wants to spend a long time in the middle on Day II as well to ensure Bengal put up an imposing total on the board.
Asked about the total Bengal are aiming for, Arindam said: “Ideally, it should be 450 to 500. But sky is the limit. We need six points and should bat only once in this game.”
After completing his century, Arindam requested the scorers at both ends of the ground not to display his individual score for the rest of the day.
“The last time I scored a century, I was out almost immediately after crossing the three-figure mark. So this time around, I did not want to keep a track of my score after getting to my hundred. The coach wanted us to remain patient and go for a big score,” he explained.
Arindam, though, was obviously pleased with his second century in this season’s Ranji Trophy. “For the first five-six years of my career, I was getting lots of half-centuries, but was not able to convert most of them into big ones,” he said.
