Services board top tally

Kokrajhar, Nov. 27: The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) topped the table in the 36th National Junior Archery championship, 2013 which concluded today at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Special Area Games Complex, Kathalguri in Kokrajhar.

The SSCB won 11 medals, comprising seven gold, one silver and three bronze.

Punjab finished second with 10 medals — five gold, one silver and four bronze. Jharkhand won 21 medals — four gold, seven silver and 10 bronze to stand third.

Hosts Assam won 13 medals, comprising two gold, 10 silver and one bronze for the fourth position.

Manipur are on fifth position with two gold, two silver and a bronze. Rajasthan with two gold medals, one silver stood sixth in the overall medal tally followed by Uttar Pradesh standing in the seventh position with the medal tally of two gold and one bronze medal.

While the states of Odhisa, Maharastra, Kerala, Chattisgarh and Arunachal Pradesh with one gold each.

West Bengal did not win a single medal and were placed at the most bottom of the table.

The SSCB were awarded best team prize while Andhra Pradesh received the most disciplined team award.

Among those present on the concluding day function were Subash Basumatary, director of Manipur region SAI, BTC executive members Mono Kumar Brahma, Banamali Boro and Reoreoa Narzihary, president of Assam Archery Association Jayanta Boro, members of council legislative assembly Doneswar Goyary and Pabitra Boro, among others.

U-19 cricket: The Assam Cricket Association on today named the state under-19 squad for the Cooch Behar Trophy match to be played against Goa at Mangaldoi Women’s cricket: East Zone will play Central at NF Railway Stadium here and North Zone clash with South at Nehru Stadium here in two matches of the national under-19 women’s inter-zonal limited-overs cricket tournament tomorrow.
