USA outride Thailand

Imphal, Nov. 24: USA Polo Association thrashed Thailand by 14-6 goals in the 7th Manipur International Polo 2013 played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The USA riders adapted well and had a good game against the young Thailand team, which is a new entrant in the Manipur polo scene.

The US team dominated the first chukker with Peter Blake striking in three goals while Mason Wroe scored two goals and Johny Levine and Weston Gracida fetched a goal each for the lead.

US increased the lead in the second chukker with Johny Levine hammering home his teamís eighth goal but Thailand pulled back one with Subachal Sukhampa making the score1-8.

Later in the third chukker, USA increased the pace with Peter Blake and Weston Gracida scoring a goal each to tighten their grip in the game to give 10-1 goals.

The USA riders were aggressive in the fourth chukker as Peter Blake struck three more goals while Thailand rider Subachal Sukhampa conceded to push USA to 14-2 goals.

Though late, the Thailand team made a desperate move fetching them the fourth goal while Subachal Sukhampa scored two goals.

Vorajit Wongkraso and Narakotu Singha chipped in with a goal each but too late to save the game.

In another match, India B (Manipur) beat India A (IPA) beat by 11-3 goals.

M. Jawan Singh scored four goals while P. Ojit and S. Bimol scored three goals and S. Somorjit got one goals for Manipur.

India A scored through Raghav Rao who struck three goals.

Table tennis: M. Meiraba Luwang, who won the Under-13 National Table Tennis championís title, was feted by Manipur Badmintion Association at MBA Indoor Hall, DM College complex.

The MBA also feted participants in the 27th sub junior and 17th North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championship.

Baseball: The Assam Baseball Association (ABA) announced the state team, which will participate in the Senior National Baseball Championship to be held at Solapur in Maharashtra from November 27-December 3.

The selected players are Amir Ali, Shalaam Laskar, Jaharuddin, Hirokjyoti Sonowal, Jun Dutta, Pratim Gogoi, MadhurjyaRajkhowa, Arupjyoti Das, Biplab Bhuyan, Surat Hazarika, Prafulla Gogoi, Majibur Rahman, Rabi Mulla, Vinode Deka, Rohit Das and Kajol Das. Kishan Choudhury is the coach while Mainul will assist the team as the manager.

Assam girls in team: Altogether six Assam girls have been named in the under-19 womenís east zone cricket team for the inter-zonal tournament to be held from November 28 to December 4, writes a staff reporter from Guwahati. Those named in the squad include Ritu Dhrub, Anita Lodhi, Rajni Lodhi, Rekharani Borah, Archana Dutta and Shanti Rai.
