Top gear: young & old go va va vroom...

Ritam Ghosh, a Class VI student at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education, checks out a Harley Davidson with father Jayanta Ghosh. “Cars and bikes are my passion! Though I can’t drive them now I thought why not come here and check them out at least. I also bought a Harley miniature model,” beamed the boy, whose dream car is a Bugatti Veyron. “Once I grow up, I will buy that car even if I have to import it to India!”

Nano it is for IT consultant Bibhu Misra. “I already have two Hyundai cars — a Santro and an i10 — but my son loves the Nano. I read that the upgraded model looks better and has more features, so I came to check it out here. It might be a good option for my wife,” said the Salt Lake resident.

The Nandans from Shyambazar were planning to surprise their “big family” with a big car. Their choice: Chevrolet Enjoy. “We had been planning on a bigger car and decided on Enjoy because our other car Aveo is also from the Chevrolet family. This is supposed to be a surprise for the rest of the Nandan battalion,” laughed Abhijit Nandan, who came with wife Soma and mother Mina.

Seven-year-old Arya Bhutoria’s choice was a Hero Pleasure scooter. “I like this very much and when I grow up I will get one. But when I ride it I will wear a helmet,” smiled the Class I student.

So what if they don’t have the licence or the money to own a car right now? There was no stopping Rajdeep Ganguly (right) of South Point High School and Sayan Sengupta of Hariyana Vidya Mandir from checking out Cross Polo, the latest model from Volkswagen. “We knew we just had to come after we read about it! The Cross Polo looks so good. It’s style and features rock!” smiled Rajdeep, a Class VIII student.

Bike freak Lorraine Gueizelar, 55, was literally up in the air, at least for some seconds, as she did a wheelie during her Harley Davidson Iron 833 test ride. “I almost forgot it’s an 833cc engine. This machine is so awesome and really has some power! I think I will rather walk back now than return on my Ambition (bike),” smiled the McLeod Street resident.

Manish Limboo and Migma Lama were awestruck by the Harley 883. “We had heard so much about Harleys. It’s like a dream to have one, mostly because of its style. No other bike comes close,” smiled Manish (right), in between checking the bike.
