New Delhi, Nov. 22: Tata Motors today launched the CNG variants of mid-sized sedan Indigo and compact car Indica under its emax series.

The new emax range offers both the CNG and petrol options, the company said.

The price of the Tata Indigo emax starts at Rs 4.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.27 lakh, while the Tata Indica emax costs between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 4.26 lakh.

On the launch, Ankush Arora, Tata Motors senior vice-president (passenger vehicle business unit, commercial), said, “CNG is gaining momentum in the Indian automobile market and we are happy to announce the expansion of our CNG portfolio.”

He said the introduction of the new variants underlined the company’s commitment to be a sustainable automotive player.

The new models will be available in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura, the company said.

The emax range was showcased in June at an event in Pune to mark the start of the company’s new marketing strategy — Horizonext. Tata Motors had committed itself to launch the CNX range in a phased manner by the end of this fiscal.

The Nano emax was the first in the range.

The company, which is part of the global conglomerate Tata Sons, has witnessed a 33 per cent fall in sales at 10,944 units in October, according to data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
