Imphal West boys shine

Imphal, Nov. 21: Imphal West (A) claimed the cadet boys’ title of the Stag 35th State Inter-district Table Table Tennis Championship, which got under way at the NSA Imphal indoor stadium today.

The cadet boys’ final saw the Imphal West (A) team of E. Thomas and K. Kenao getting the better of Imphal West (B) team of Th. Topper, Heithoiba and Lanhanba.

In the sub-junior boys’ team event, Imphal West (A) beat Thoubal (A) by 3-1. K. Rohit, K. Kenao and Rk. Denial were part of the Imphal West team, while Khelendrajit and Lanthoiba represented Thoubal.

In the junior boys’ team final, yet again Imphal West (B), represented by Kh. Banta, K. Binit and Ronald, got the better of Imphal West (A) 3-2. Rk. Denial, K. Rohit, Thomas and K. Kenao were part of the Imphal West (A) team. Thoubal won the youth boys’ title beating Imphal West (B) 3-1.

In the men’s team event, Imphal West (A) beat Imphal West (B) 3-1, while in another match Imphal East (A) got the better of Thoubal (B) by a similar margin.

Altogether 200 players are competing in the team, singles and doubles events, which will continue till November 28.

Fellowship: The Union ministry of cultural affairs has selected Huidrom Dinachandra Singh for the senior fellowship for 2011-12 in the field of thang ta for two years. Dinachandra’s research topic is Significances of Thanglon and its Application.
