Six-wicket win for Ulubari HS

Guwahati, Nov. 21: Ulubari Higher Secondary School registered a convincing six-wicket victory over Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School in their match of the 8th Parijat Mazumdar all Assam under-16 inter-school cricket tournament at the Latasil playground here today.

Batting first, Kamrup Academy were bundled out for 94 runs in 15.5 overs. Sanjeev Pathak and Amar Basfor contributed 18 and 17 runs respectively. Nabajyoti Kumar chipped in with a run-a-ball 15. Abdul Basid was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 22 runs, while Chandan Baruah and Manu Sharma picked up two wickets each.

In reply, the Ulubari boys eased past the target in 18.2 overs losing four wickets. The side rode on Manu Sharma’s unbeaten knock of 47 runs off 45 balls, while Abdul Basid contributed 11 runs. Sanjeev Kr Rajak, Nayan Roy and Nikhil Basfor picked up a wicket each for the Kamrup team.

The scheduled second match of the day saw Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti being awarded a walkover as DAV High School failed to field their team.

Ulubari Higher Secondary School will play Modern English High School in the first match tomorrow and South Point School will take on Nalbari’s Ananda Vidya Niketan in the second match of the day.
