Guwahati, Oct. 31: Hosts Assam today emerged the unbeaten menís team event champions in the 13th Northeast Carom Championship under way at Nowgong Sports Association indoor hall in Nagaon.
The team, comprising Bijoy Rabha, Netbor Mallick, Tirap Bordoloi and Biswajit Saha, tallied full eight points while their Meghalaya counterparts finished runners-up with six points. The Assam women yesterday won the team title.
In the individual events, Barsha Baruah, Devajani Tamuly, Nazlin Shahnaz Hussain, Sharmila Bora, Nargis Begum, Himakshi Baidhya and Mayurakshi Das of Assam and Sushmita Devi of Manipur today made it to the singles quarter-finals.
In junior boysí event, Assam boys Sonu Choudhury will meet Subham Ghosh. Kamal Ali will clash with Jugal Kishore Dutta in the semi-finals.
Assam girl Farah Sultana will play S. Binita Devi of Manipur and K. Lallampui of Mizoram meets Bidya Chanu of Manipur in the junior girlsí singles semi-finals.
