The Ranji Trophy Group A match between Jharkhand and Delhi at Keenan Stadium was called off for the third consecutive day on Tuesday when umpires found wet patches on the grounds.
Despite the sunny day, umpires Sanjay Hazare and Abhijeet Deshmukh found the outfield and bowling area “not dry enough”.
Play was finally called off at 3pm after the umpires and match referee Vijay Kumar inspected the facilities. The trio had conducted a similar exercise in the morning.
“The grounds and pitch have almost dried. But there are some wet patches. The clear sky is favouring the dew factor too,” said a ground staff.
Cricket enthusiasts from the city, flocking to the venue since the last three days, were disappointed once again.
“I have been coming here for three days to catch some action but to no avail,” said disappointed Virender Sehwag fan Ehtesham Khan from Sonari. “But I’ll come tomorrow also,” grinned the never-say-die optimist.
