Shillong, Oct. 28: A higher secondary student, the son of a Meghalaya superintendent of police, gave his suspected abductors the slip with his smart thinking this morning.
Around 8.30am, four men approached the 18-year-old Class XII student of St Edmund’s College and told him that he should go with them as his father had met with an accident.
“The boy found the men’s version fishy and excused himself to go to the toilet from where he contacted the college staff,” a police officer said. The purported kidnappers left the college campus after a lengthy wait for the student to reappear.
College authorities have lodged an FIR and the police have launched an operation to arrest the persons. The boy’s father, M.K. Dkhar, commands East Jaintia Hills district.
