Guwahati, Oct. 28: Haryana A were restricted to a modest first innings total of 215 all out in 76.1 overs on the first day of their four-day C.K. Nayudu Trophy under-25 plate group B match against hosts Assam A at Goalpara District Sports Association ground today.
Electing to bat, the visitors started cautiously but lost wickets at regular intervals to be back in the dressing room shortly after tea.
The hosts, too, lost a couple of wickets, including opener Manashjyoti Gogoi and Prasanta Sonowal, who was sent in as night watchman, to be reduced to 27 for two in 12 overs at the draw of stumps.
Earlier in the day, Assam pacer Samik Das and offie Prasanta Sonowal served blow after blow, unsettling the visitorsí batting attack.
Besides, left arm spinner Avoy Yadav chipped in with the scalp of three for 37 to rip apart the Haryana A tail.
Opener Rohit Sharma (48, 4x5, 6x1) was the topscorer for the visitors while middle order batsman G Gulia remained unbeaten on a patient 36 (4x4).
The visitors were reduced to 94 for four at one stage before the lower middle order consolidated the innings. S. Rathi scored 23 (4x3), A. Jain contributed 28 (4x5) and R. Dagar chipped in with 26 (4x3) to take the total beyond the 200 mark.
Opener Sumit Budhwar (22, 4x4) was another notable scorer for the side.
For Assam, opener Rishav Das and Diptesh Saha were batting on 14 (4x3) and five (4x1) respectively at the close of play today.
Green Valley in semi-final: Green Valley SC, Guwahati entered the semi-final of the 14th Bodoland Martyrsí Gold Cup football championship under way at Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground here, reports our correspondent from Kokrajhar.
In the fourth and last quarter-final, Green Valley today blanked Cooch Behar Municipality Board of Bengal 3-0.
Basudev Baruah scored two goals in the second and 31st minutes while Lucky Imran pumped in the third goal for the team in the second half.
Green Valley will now play Food Corporation of India (FCI) SC, Guwahati on Wednesday for a place in the final. Tomorrow local club Barhunka AC will play All-Moirang Football Association, Manipur, in the first semi-final.
