Guwahati, Oct. 27: Bengal and Odisha clinched easy wins in their matches of the East Zone under-19 women’s cricket tournament league here today. While Bengal overcame Tripura by two wickets at NF Railway Stadium in Maligaon here, Odisha inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Jharkhand at Nehru Stadium.
At Maligaon, Tripura elected to bat and were sent packing for 79 in 47.1 overs. Bengal managed to score 80 for eight in 32.3 overs.
Barring A. Guha’s 12, none of the Bengal girls could score in double figures. Middle order bat Rizu Shah topscored for Tripura with 26 (4x3) while opener Banashree Sarkar and Rita Debbarma made 16 and 15 runs respectively.
In the other match at Nehru Stadium, Jharkhand elected to bat, but were skittled out for 41 runs. Odisha romped home, losing five wickets in 25 overs.
Bandana Hanumant was the pick of the Odisha bowlers having scalped three for nought. Progyan Paromita Mohanty remained unbeaten on 11 topscoring for Odisha.
Devyani Prasad of Jharkhand scalped three for 12.
