Calcutta: Incessant rain in Cuttack since the past couple of days has put the Odisha Cricket Association in a spot over hosting the fifth ODI against Australia on Saturday.
It rained on Wednesday too, but the officials are hoping that the weather gods will relent.
“It’s not in our hands... let’s hope for the best,” OCA president Ranjib Biswal told The Telegraph.
The forecast shows improvement in weather conditions in the next two days. Rain stopped for sometime in the morning, but intermittent showers have been continuing since. In the evening it was still raining.
“Even if we get one day, we can get the ground ready in time for the match...” said OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera.
He dismissed any threat of the match being shifted elsewhere. “There is no such threat... The players are arriving in Bhubaneshwar tomorrow and the match is very much happening here. Let’s hope we get some sunshine in the coming days.”
