Calcutta: What looked set to be a boost turned out to be yet another setback for McDowell Mohun Bagan.
Till late evening on Monday, the Bagan camp was pretty much confident of Okolie Odafe’s return to action. But a medical report on Tuesday ruled out the Nigerian of Wednesday’s I-League clash against Salgaocar, at the Salt Lake Stadium.
The doctor’s report pointed out he still needs another few more days to be back on the field as his recovery process is yet to be completed.
“Some stiffness is still there in his muscles. Besides, there is blood clot in the injured area. The (doctor’s) report says Odafe needs another few more days for complete recovery. He won’t be playing tomorrow’s game,” coach Karim Bencharifa said.
Later in the day, the blood clot was cleared, something which should hasten his recovery process.
