Kokrajhar, Oct. 21: Kanchenjunga SC, Darjeeling beat Simlabagan Santipur, Chirang 7-4 to make it to the semi-finals of the 16th Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy football tournament under way at Dotma in Kokrajhar district.
Bidur Chhetri found the net thrice in the 29th, 42nd and 60th minutes while Prabhas Chhetri scored two goals in the 20th and 35th minutes. Risden Tamang and Arpan Rai netted one each in the 14th and 71st minutes respectively for the Darjeeling side. For the Chirang team, Maheswar Basumatary ruffled the net twice in the second and 82nd minutes while Ratan Narzary and Manjit Basumatary netted one each in the 30th and 51st minutes respectively.
JSB Gold Cup: Global Sports Club, Gossaigaon secured a semi-final berth in the 12th Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary Gold Cup football tournament, blanking City Police, Guwahati 3-0 in the second quarter-final at Bangaldoba in Chirang district today.
Global men dominated the match giving little space to the policemen. Ashok Brahma scored the first goal in the 18th minute and Sambaru Basumatary consolidated the lead in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Ashok Brahma scored another goal in the 86th minute.
Martyrsí Cup: Barhungka Athletic Club, Kokrajhar defeated Chirang District Sports Association 2-0 to move into the second round of the 14th Bodoland Martyrsí Gold Cup football championship at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground here. After a barren first session, the Barhungka men managed to score two goals in the 58th and 88th minutes to win the match 2-0. Samwn Narzary and Diwdengiri Basumatary netted the goals.
