Calcutta: Mohun Bagan captain Okolie Odafe said he is confident of returning for his team’s next I-League match, on Wednesday, against Salgaocar SC.
“God willing, I will play against Salgaocar. Lot of people are saying I aggravated the quadriceps muscle injury on Thursday. But that’s not true.
“It’s just that I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent fit. That’s why I pulled out of training (on Thursday).
“I am in perfect shape. There’s nothing to worry about,” Odafe said at the club tent on Friday.
Bagan coach Karim Bencharifa, though, said Odafe would not play for the entire 90 minutes even if he starts against Salgaocar.
“Definitely notů He has just recovered from the injury.
“You cannot expect him to fire from the very first match,” the Moroccan said.
Odafe, however, believes Bagan will win Saturday’s match against Sporting Clube de Goa. “We will win. Fans should not worry,” he said.
