Calcutta: Bengal’s opening game of this season’s Ranji Trophy, against Baroda, from October 27, has been shifted to the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus ground.
The CAB decided to shift the venue as it wants to keep the Eden wicket fresh ahead of the first India-West Indies Test, which will also be Sachin Tendulkar’s 199th.
Just over two weeks are left for the much-awaited tie, which begins from November 6.
“We want the pitch and the outfield to remain fresh before this major game. Besides the Ranji match would not be telecast live as was scheduled earlier,” CAB joint-secretary Subir Ganguly said on Friday.
