Imphal, Oct. 18: North Eastern Reorganisation and Cultural Association defeated Southern Sporting Union by 3-1 goals to occupy the top slot in the eighth Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.
North Eastern got the early break in second minute with a goal from L. Gouro Singh for the lead.
North Eastern player M. Deepak Singh got the better of two Southern defenders and slammed home the second goal in the 15th minute in the first half.
Southern Sporting Union, who had a lacklustre run in the first half, began on an aggressive note and Md Sahidur Rehman beat two defenders in the 65th minute to reduce the margin.
North Eastern Reorganisation consolidated through N. Sushil Singh who scored his teamís third goal in the 77th minute after anticipating a goalmouth pass from Deepak Singh for the victory.
Tiddim Road Athletic Union beat United Sporting Association by 2-1 goals in the last match of the seventh round.
N. Dhananjoy Singh scored both the goals for Tiddim Road while Ch. Risk got the lone goal for United.
Tiddim Road Athletic Union have nine points while United Sporting have seven.

Borchand Singh Memorial under-14 boysí Inter-District Football Festival, 2013 from October 28 to 29 to meet the AIFF deadline for the National under-14 Festival scheduled to begin on November 10. The district football associations and sports associations have been told to submit a list of players born on or after January 1, 2000 for the festival before October 27.
