New Delhi, Oct. 18: India Inc today expressed concern over agencies investigating major business houses and corporate honchos and said the move could dampen business sentiment.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today strongly reacted to the CBI report filed against Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. “While it is absolutely within the CBI’s rights to proceed against any person to ensure that the law of the land is preserved irrespective of the stature of the person, it is desirable to ensure that all facts of the case are laid upfront before proceeding against respected and reputed individuals,” CII president Kris Gopalakrishnan said.
He added that reputations of institutions and individuals took years to build and, therefore, extreme caution needed to be exercised before any action was taken.
Ficci said, “Business leaders cannot be made scapegoats of mere suspicion.”
