Calcutta: If things fall into place, Eden Gardens may host both legends — Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara — in the former’s 199th Test and final appearance at this historic venue.
As part of its celebrations to mark The Master’s penultimate Test, at the Eden, in his farewell series, against the West Indies, the CAB is sending an invitation to the legendary batsman next week to make the occasion a memorable one.
“Since West Indies are the opposition, we would like to invite someone who had played against Sachin. There’s no better choice than Lara,” CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey said on Thursday.
An invitation will also be forwarded to Sachin’s first captain, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Dey added.
In what appears to be a unique idea, the CAB plans to order around 70,000 Sachin masks for spectators to make it an unforgettable occasion for the world’s leading run-scorer.
Besides, the tickets of the November 6 to 10 Test are likely to feature a Sachin portrait, sketched by well-known artists Sanatan Dinda and Jogen Chowdhury.
The tickets are priced at Rs 500, 1,000 and 1,500. Online sale will begin from next Thursday.
