Calcutta: KPH Dream Cricket Pvt Ltd, the owners and promoters of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab, has filed a criminal complaint with Chandigarh Police against its sponsor, NVD Solar Ltd and its director under Sections 415/420/467/468/471/120 of the Indian Penal Code.
It has been alleged that the sponsorship deal was for Rs 14.3 crore and KXIP has received only 42 lakh till now.
However, an official associated with the NVD Solar said that the agreement was with the Bangladesh arm of the company (NVD International) and so NVD Solar Ltd couldn’t be dragged into the controversy.
He further said that they had requested Kings XI several times to cancel agreement with NVD International and enter into a fresh agreement with NVD Solar Ltd, which would make them liable to pay the dues, but that didn’t happen.
A Kings XI source contested the claim saying that the letter of intent was signed by a director of NVD Solar and there was no requirement for a fresh agreement.
