Srinagar, Oct. 15: An army soldier was killed in fresh firing by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control today.
Police said the Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire twice in Poonch, injuring the soldier who later died.
Poonch police chief Shamsher Hussain said the soldier was from 38 Rashtriya Rifles.
“There was firing by Pakistan twice in the area today. It first started early today and ended around 9 in the morning. It again started at 5 in the evening, in which the soldier was killed,” he said.
The army had earlier launched an operation in Keran sector where 30 to 40 militants were reportedly hiding. It was called off when the militants reportedly returned to PoK.
