Calcutta: McDowell Mohun Bagan suffered their first loss in the Airtel I-League when they went down 0-2 to Pune FC in Pune, on Thursday.
After three matches Bagan, who are yet to taste victory, have two points.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Anyichie Echezona was sent off in the 53rd minute, following his second booking.
Second-half strikes from substitute Thongkhosiem Haokip (72nd minute) and winger James Meyer (81st) handed Pune FC three points.
With the win, Pune FC moved to second place with seven points from three games. Coach Mike Snoei made one change to the team that faced Lajong in the second round with striker Raul Fabiani — back after his suspension — replacing winger Velington Rocha.
The hosts went on the offensive from the word go and had attempts from Douhou Pierre and Arata Izumi blocked by Bagan defence.
