New Delhi: It will be an uphill task for the 10-member Indian boxing squad who will leave for Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Friday for the World Boxing Championship without participating in a single preparatory meet for the last four months.
According to sources, the problem within the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) is the main reason behind the Indian boxers not getting enough exposure trips before the all important world meet.
The last international tournament the Indians participated was in the Asian Championship in June. “This is going to hit our boxers hard,” said a senior boxing official. “Since the world championship will be held under the new rules, a few exposure trips were absolutely necessary.
