Guwahati, Oct. 9: Artistes from the region will come together to sing for peace at a concert on October 19 in the city.
Organised by Aroti Events and Entertainment, the concert — Music for Peace — at the Assam Engineering Institute Field here will feature both popular as well as folk artistes from different parts of the Northeast. Last year, too, the organisers held a similar programme.
“Like last year, this time, too, we will organise a concert to champion the cause of peace and harmony in the Northeast. Till date about 20 singers from different parts of the state and Northeast have confirmed their participation. During the concert, the singers will sing as well as appeal to the masses to co-exist with each other despite their differences so that peace can prevail in the northeastern states,” Partha Pratim Goswami, general secretary of Aroti Events and Entertainment, said.
“Apart from Assamese artistes, artistes from different parts of the Northeast will be a part of this event. They will sing in different languages. Last year, we received a good response and this time, too, we are hoping for the same. Anyone can come and enjoy the show that will begin in the afternoon as entry will be free,” Goswam said.
The organisers wanted to hold similar concerts in other parts of the Northeast but lack of sponsorship prevented them from doing so this year.
“Since we are trying to spread the message of peace in the entire Northeast, we did not want to keep this concert concentrated in the city. But when we approached different people for sponsorship, they refused help saying a concert for peace is not their priority. ” he said.
