Pro inner-line permit (ILP) groups on Tuesday suspended their agitation in view of the forthcoming religious festivals in Meghalaya.
Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) general secretary Auguster Jyrwa said the decision to not hold any protests from October 10-16 was taken at a meeting held on Tuesday.
“We have decided not to organise any agitation from Thursday till October 16 as a gesture of respect to the religious festivals which will be observed across the state. However, the groups will be meeting again on October 16 to chalk out the future course of action,” Jyrwa said.
He also said the groups would continue to pressure the state government to implement the ILP system.
