The steel city’s fabled Keenan Stadium will host three Ranji Trophy matches in this 2013-14 season.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) had earmarked two senior matches in Jamshedpur, but the October 23 India-Australia ODI in Ranchi has necessitated shifting out of a Group A Jharkhand-Delhi encounter. The match will be held from October 27 to 30.
Besides the match versus Delhi, Keenan will also host a tie against Gujarat (November 28 to December 1) and Vidarbha (December 22 to 25). Another Ranji match against Punjab will be played in Dhanbad from December 30 to January 2.
Home encounters apart, Jharkhand will play four away matches in different cities. The state outfit will lock horns with Karnataka from November 7-10 before taking on Haryana from November 14-17. It will later cross swords with Odisha in Cuttack from November 21-14 and then play the last outstation tie in Mumbai from December 6-9.
“We will have three days to tone up things at the international cricket stadium (in Dhurwa) after the ODI. It may not be logistically possible. So, we decided to shift the Jharkhand-Delhi to Jamshedpur,” said JSCA assistant secretary Ashim Kumar Singh.
