Kokrajhar, Oct. 6: Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) SC, Guwahati, lifted the 18th Bodoland Gallant Gold Cup defeating All Moirang Football Association (AMoFA), Manipur, 3-0 in the final at Dimakuchi in Udalguri district.
The first half was a goalless affair with both the teams playing an evenly poised game.
However, the second half was a different ball game with the powermen changing their tactics to pump in three goals.
Y. Gopi Singh drew first blood with a 61st-minute strike and was followed by Hemanta Brahma and William Gangte in the 66th and 80th minutes respectively to ruffle the net, entertaining the capacity crowd at the Dimakuchi ground.
The winners received Rs 30,000 along with the trophy, handed over by Bodoland Territorial Council member Jagadish Sarkar. The runners-up went home richer by Rs 20,000 along with a trophy handed over by Absuís Udalguri district unit vice-president Daobaisa Boro.
William Gangte was adjudged the Best Player while Royal Basumatary of Argeng Club, Dimakuchi, was named the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
Organised by Dimakuchi Sports Association and Dimakuchi Unit of Absu, a total of eight leading teams of the Northeast participated in the tournament that kicked off on September 29.
Abhinanshu Borthakur of Assam won the menís singles crown in the AITA menís tournament at Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Friday.
In the final, Abhinanshu defeated S.D. Prajwal Dev of Karnataka 6-2, 6-4.
