Are you in Dhanbad for Pujas but your school friends are all over the world? Do you want to share your favourite coal town pandal with your son studying abroad? Are you away on work and feeling homesick during Pujas already?
Fret not. Instead, click on www.puja.dhanbadonline.com and send the link to all your friends and family outside the city and come together for virtual pandal-hopping and fun voting.
Part of the city news portal www.dhanbadonline.com that is run by software developers City Live, the sub-domain specially created for Durga Puja will work from Saturday right till October 30.
In these days, you can click on the darshanam section to find out a host of details.
From the name of the Puja committee and contact numbers to the type of idol, pandal height, a brief history of the Puja and how to get there, you can access details of as many as 60 pandals on your fingertips.
“We’re privileged to offer online viewing of Durgotsav this year. Our debut in 2012 was immensely successful with 1,45,000 hits. Initially, we will upload information on 20 Pujas. Gradually, the number will touch 60. We are including pandals from Dhanbad town, Jharia, Baliapur, Sindri, Nirsa, Bhuli, Katras, Harina, Govindpur, Digwadih and Rajganj,” said City Live Founder Navneet Naman.
Surfers can also go through the video footage of each pandal, rites and rituals, including the mahaarti. Registered users — registration is a matter of seconds —and vote online to root for their favourite Puja.
Categories comprise idol, pandal, management and lighting. After Diwali, City Live will award the three top Pujas across all four categories that get the most votes.
Users can pick favourites from the traditional Katras and Jharia Rajbari Pujas to the magnificent Saraidhela Steel Gate Puja and fair and the catching pandals in Bhuli and more.
City Live also invites registered users to click pictures and upload them on the sub-domain for their contest, Festive Mood.
“A panel headed by Dhanbad’s world renowned Mukesh Srivastava, will judge the entries,” said Naman. The top three winners will be given prizes along with Puja committee members.
Those who can coin witty messages also stand a chance of winning prizes. “There’s separate contest for viewers who post Puja related messages on the sub-domain. Again, three best will be selected for prizes,” he said.
